Therapeutic magistral form
Scope
The Therapeutic Magistral Form (TMF) is a reference book for magistral preparation. It has been drafted by the competent sub-committee of the Belgian Pharmacopoeia Commission and published by the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products.
The preparations were selected for their therapeutic efficacy as well as their socio-economic interest, and then validated in terms of their composition, method of dosage and if necessary stability.
The Therapeutic Magistral Form, 1st edition, has been approved by the Royal Decree of 25 March 2003 (French version).
It must be present in each pharmacy in accordance with the Royal Decree of 21 January 2009 (French version) (Article 12) about instructions to pharmacists.
Presentation
The TMF is composed of different parts.
The first part reviews preparations for dermatological use and was published in 2003.
The subcommittee is currently drafting the second part which is devoted to non-dermatological preparations.
Each magistral preparation is taken as a monograph which mentions the indication, composition, method of preparation, storage conditions, duration of stability and dosage.
The TMF, first edition, is available in two versions:
• A version for pharmacists: 402-page workbook, complete monographs
• A version for doctors: 235 pages, paperback, Monographs without method of preparation.
Each version is published in French and Dutch.

The Royal Decree of 4 July 2004 (French version) amending the Royal Decree of 20 July 1993 (French version) fixing the amount of remuneration referred into Article 13bis of the Law of 25 March 1964 (French version) about medicinal products states that TMF, first edition, pharmacists, is provided against payment of a fee of 32 €.
The Royal Decree of 10 August 2005 (French version) amending the Royal Decree of 20 July 1993 (French version) fixing the amount of remuneration referred into Article 13bis of the Law of 25 March 1964 (French version) about medicinal products states that TMF, first edition, doctors, is provided against payment of a fee of 8 €.
TMF, first edition, pharmacists, can be obtained from the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products, by paying the sum of 34.68 € (indexed to 2009) to the account No. 679-0021942 - 20, with the name (firm and / or contact person), address, quantity and desired language mentioned.
TMF, first edition, doctors may be obtained from the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products, by paying the sum of 8.67 € (indexed to 2009) to the account No. 679-0021942 - 20, with the name (firm and / or contact person), address, quantity and desired language mentioned.
